Fun Halloween Decorations For Your Car
Many people decorate their homes for Halloween but most people don't do the same with their cars. Although they might purchase a rearview mirror hanger with a Halloween theme you'll seldom see cars with other Halloween decorations. This year, consider creating a fun or ghastly theme for your vehicle. There are many you can do for little money and then your car will stand out in the crowd on Halloween night. The theme can be understated, with a simple antenna decoration, or can be much more prominent. You can decorate your car then drive around until Halloween is over or you can create a theme just for Halloween night.
Antenna decorations are some of the easiest you can do. All you need to make one is a Styrofoam ball - two to three inches in diameter. Spray paint the ball orange and use a black marker to make the face. Be sure all glue, paint and markers used for these projects is permanent and waterproof. Check the label to ensure this. Paint the ball black and you can easily make a bat. Glue on wiggly eyes then cut out shapes of bat wings. Using black craft foam, which is flat and purchased by the sheet, you can make the bat wings. Cut a slit in each side of the ball, slide the wings in position, then glue them in place. Or, use black tape to secure them. Make any number of monsters and ghouls for your antenna by starting with a painted Styrofoam ball. Things you can use to create the facial features include beads for eyes, curled pipe cleaners for hair or ears, straight pins for hair, cotton swab ends for ears or eyes, toothpicks or raffia for hair, and even a soda bottle lid for a hat. Cut a hole in the bottom of the ball and simply slip the ball over the antenna of your car. Make a different kind of antenna person by using small doll clothes. Stuff a pair of pants and a long-sleeve shirt with lengths of raffia. Allow some of the raffia to hang out of the sleeves and pant legs. Use a painted Styrofoam ball to make the head. Things like orange or black ribbon, orange or black buttons, tiny swatches of Halloween-theme fabric, and similar items can help give most any outfit a Halloween theme. Tape or glue a small, flat magnet to the backside of the character and simply stick it to the antenna. Make witches, ghosts, monsters and other ghouls by using the doll clothes technique. A Christmas wreath can help you make a totally different Halloween decoration for your car. Choose one that's very flat rather than a full, fluffy wreath. Use glue or wire to affix small decorations around the wreath. The decorations can be little jack-o-lanterns, cloth monsters, homemade ghosts, plastic skeletons, plastic cauldrons, rubber snakes or similar choices. You can add a Halloween-theme bow, if you wish. Cover as much of the green wreath as possible to disguise the Christmas appearance. If you don't have a wreath you can use cut the ring from around a margarine bowl lid. Wire the novelties onto this instead. Ordinary, cheap contact paper can help you make all sorts of signs for your back auto glass. Use stencils to draw letters and/or numbers on the sticky shelf paper. Cut out the letters, peel away the adhesive paper, then write "Happy Halloween" or another saying on the window. Instead of lettering you can create images. Cut out shapes of ghosts, witches, bats, moons and other shapes to create the design you want. You can do designs on the windshield as well, but keep the lettering up close to the top, by the roof. If lettering blocks the view of the driver whatsoever you could get a ticket for Halloween!
