Home Office Nooks
Having a home office is great when you own your business, concentrating on writing that novel or even simply paying a few bills. But the problem with many homes is that you just don't have the space to use as a home office. By taking advantage of the space you already have in a creative way, you can build a quiet refuge for your office.
Customized Work Station A customized home office workstation is much more efficient than a conventional desk when designing a home office in limited space. Since you're going to be sharing the spaces function with another room in the home, dividing your home office will keep it private as possible. Built in bookshelf's on either side of a conventional desk can help disguise filing cabinets or computer hardware, while dividing the work station from the sides. It still looks open, but closes off the space, cleverly concealing your office space. Closets One of my favorite home office design cheats, a closet is a great way to create the perfect home office nook. Walk in closets can easily be transformed into a work station of solitude. Bi-fold doors can easily be used to help disguise the home office nook when it's not in use. Existing shelves provide convenient storage solutions. Just remember with a walk in closet, adequate lighting and ventilation is a must have. Computer equipment and task lighting can easily get hot, quick. Installing a bathroom vent fan can help, but without actually installing a heating or cooling vent, it might be more trouble than its worth. Dining Room Believe it out not, a dining room can be a good place to put a home office nook. It's only used three times a day at most for eating, so its one of the least used rooms in the home. Converting a corner of the dining room into a useable home office nook can take a little creativity. A roll down desk can double as a china cabinet in the off hours. When your entertaining guests, simply close up the roll down, throw on a table cloth and set it up as a serving area.
