Graphics Design: Putting Your Inner Creativity To Work
If you are looking for a way to make a splash by working for yourself at home, graphics design is one of the best ways to do it. Using the plethora of professional grade products, as well as some of the very good personal products you can create images, scenes, logos and other similar graphics material that are amazing and high quality just by taking some time to learn, and then unleashing your inner creativity.
If you are looking to get started without spending a huge fortune on software for graphics design, there are plenty of options for you to consider. With the cheapest being programs such as gimp, ImageMagick, GimpShop, Paint.Net, Serif PhotoPlus and many others. These are all great pieces of software that can help you get started using images and creating graphics easily and simply. However, for those who are looking at diving deeper into the subjects and aspects of graphics design, there are a wealth of plug-ins and even filters that accompany the Photoshop, which is one of the best graphics design programs around.
Sure, there are of course other options available, such as Paint Shop Pro, and other similar options. However, this really is not to push any particular software, but rather to ensure that you are aware of what your options are while remaining inside of a budget. For anyone who is really interested in getting started with graphics design, looking at digital scrapbooking can be a great place to get started. Not only are there tons of great resources free, but there is a huge wealth of free scripts, templates, actions, brushes and filters that you can get to learn and experiment with.
This can allow you to get started creating quickly and easily, while still staying on a small budget. Additionally there are also classes offered at most local colleges that focus around graphics design. Many do not even require signing up for a full course load of classes, and it is also possible to get a discount from many schools if you are taking the class without wanting the college credits.
With a wide range of options and methods to get started, and the huge abundance of work available within the graphics design sector, someone with a creative sight, can often find plenty of work as a freelance professional, or even obtain a typical 9-5 style of job. Regardless of which choice is best for you, there are ways to get started inexpensively, and ensure that you are learning as much as possible to help your new career begin to blossom right before your eyes.

iPad 2 or Galaxy 10.1 Tab for Design Student?
I'm about to commence a Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design) at QUT and have been offered a gift for starting Uni, the choice between the iPad and the Galaxy Tablet.
I am wondering which one of these would be most appropriate from a designers point of view?
I have a Galaxy SII phone and I really like it, so if the Samsung Tablet is as good as it, I'd be very happy. I understand possibly more design type people prefer the iPad though.

Effects of playing music too loud?
Okay so this really ignorant kid in my industrial design class has the Beats By Dr. Dre headphones (the expensive ones that cover your entire ear)
and he plays his music IMPOSSIBLY LOUD... like literally I was doing a wood carving (chisel and a mallet carving) and I could STILL HEAR IT (which is extremely insane)
so how long until he goes deaf?
