How to start my path to art school?
I really want to go to art school or some school with a design program, but I have no portfolio. I am currently a sophomore in high school with about a 3.5 gpa that i know will increase by the time i start my college apps. Anyways, i want to be a graphic designer or creative director type of person, and I have a huge passion for accomplishing that. However, i have very minimal experience with Photoshop, etc. I have never taken an art class, and I am currently enrolled in AP Art History at my school. I attended the UCLA Graphic Design Media Arts Summer Institute this past summer, and became familiar with some Adobe tools. I am currently the editor in chief of my school yearbook and plan on being so until I graduate in 2013. I plan on applying to these art schools: -Laguna College of Art and Design -Parsons -Rhode Island School of Design -California College of the Arts -Academy of Art University -Otis College Otis, CCA, and Parsons are my top choices. So, I don't know where to begin to start developing my portfolio or where to start taking art classes, etc. I don't have alot of extra room in my class schedule to take the many classes offered at my school, so please help! :)
